Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a percentage of the selling price; markup is profit as a percentage of the cost. The same dollar profit gives two different percentages depending on which one you calculate.

Which modes are available?

Percent of a value, what-percent-is-X-of-Y, percentage increase, percentage decrease, discount, tax, tip, margin, and markup.

Can I split the tip and bill among a group?

Yes - in Tip mode, enter the number of people and the total (your amount plus the calculated tip) is divided evenly to show what each person owes.
